THE BHRIGU-SAMHITA

5000 years ago, Wise Sage, Bhrigu Rishi worked out all possible mathematical permutations and combinations of these 9 planets who are the Lords of destiny. Through study of numerous lives of persons and their horoscopes, interpretations of certain combinations and aspects were worked out and reduced to sort of empirical formulas.

This entire study of their interaction was recorded on a parchment made out of a bark of a tree. For every configuration of planets there was a horoscope and for every combination of forces and aspects there was a collection of interpretations that affected that horoscope. This huge magnificent document or research is called the Bhrigu Samhita.

These interpretations of various combinations of planets were taken together and applied to the horoscope that came for a “reading”. These interpretations written together for that particular horoscope and that writing was called a “Khalit”. For every horoscope there is a reading to be found in the Bhrigu-Samhita. That writing lays out the past, present and future for that particular horoscope owner.

There is no magic or mysticism involved here. It is simply a deep, meticulous & scholarly mathematical exercise carried out by the ancient Sage Bhrigu Rishi. It involved creation of a huge data-base by Brhrigu Rishi, through study of numerous horoscopes and lives of the owners of these horoscopes. This collection of information of horoscopes of known persons was co-related to both, the happenings in their lives on the one hand and on the other, to the positions of these celestial beings in their horoscope, known as The Lords of Destiny, at the precise time when those incidents occurred, and they were recorded as empirical formulas and as a Data-base.

On that data-base certain conclusions were drawn up as to what generally is seen to happen when there is a particular combination of the Lords of Destiny and congregation of their Rashis in a particular pattern in a Horoscope. After having reduced these observations into empirical formulas, they were then applied to similar planetary combinations appearing in other horoscopes that came for a “reading” and for giving a relevant interpretation through interpolation to them in the context of other aspects in the horoscope which had similar combinations in parts.

Surprisingly these empirical formulas (arrived at by trial and error method) and the interpretations given to them turn out to be very accurate. The yard stick to measure the reading is to cross-check with the past. On that basis an Experienced and studious Horoscope reader can calculate and evaluate the future prospects & possibilities.

Indian Vedic Astrology

Western Astrology is based on Tropical calendar year, on the position of the Earth in relation to the Sun where as Indian Vedic Astrology does the above & also considers the star constellations resulting in a difference of 24 degrees between the two.

Planets(Grahas)
There are 9 planets (grahas) in Vedic Astrology.
Sun(Surya),Moon(Chandra), Mercury(Budh),Mars(Mangal), Venus(Shukra),Jupiter(Guru), Saturn(Shani),Rahu( North Node of the Moon) & Ketu (South Node of the Moon).

The term “Maha Dasha”is called after the “Time Period” in a person’s life. A particular stretch of time in an individual’s lifespan is ruled by a particular planet. This time period is known as “Vimshottari Mahadasha” of that planet. A particular sequence of planets is followed for their Mahadashas.

PlanetMahadashasGender
Sun6 years Male
Moon10 years Female
Mars7 years Male
Rahu18 years Male
Jupiter16 years Male
Saturn19 years Eunuch
Mercury17 years Eunuch
Ketu7 years Female
Venus20 years Female

The total time span of these planets adds up to be 120 years. So it is highly unlikely that any person will repeat his Maha Dashas. “Vimshottari Dasha” system works on the basis of Nakshatras. The start period of a particular Mahadasha at the birth of the individual will be based on the planet ruling the birth constellations, or JanmaNakshatra.

Each Nakshatra /star constellation is governed by a lord /planet. The first dasha (period) is determined by the Nakshatra that the Moon is transiting at the time of birth. How long or how much time is pending in the first major period is determined by how far the Moon has moved through the particular constellation it is transiting at the time of birth.

Each MahaDasha of these nine planets are again divided into sub periods (Antardashas or bhuktis), again ruled by nine planets.

Again each Dasha is divided into minor periods (Pratyantar dasha) to gain more accuracy in analyzing the timing of event in the individual’s life.

The results about all astrological problems are to be deduced from the relevant bhava, its lord, its karaka, and their respective dispositors in the light of the intricacy displayed by the various yoga-formations caused by concerned planets. The good or bad results of all yoga-formations are felt during the course of the mahadasha or antra-dashas of planets participating in those yoga-formations. All planets give results in accordance with their basic & acquired qualities, as also in accordance with the quality & status of the nakshatra they rule & occupy.

RASHIS (ZODIAC SIGNS):

There are 12 Rashis (Zodiac Signs) whose placement at the time of birth is very important, to gauge the effects of planet. The Rashis may be in their Exalted form (Uchya) or in their Diminished form, (Neech) depending on their time of birth. Each Rashi has a Lord Planet who Rules it.

  • Benefic Houses / Trikon Houses / Dharma Houses : 1st , 5th, 9th
  • Kendra/ Pillar Houses: 1st 4th, 7th, 10th
  • Benefic Planets excel here and Malefic planets do less evil

MALEFIC HOUSES:

  • Dasthana (EVIL) Houses: 3rd, 6th, 8th, 12th
  • Upachaya (Gradually Improving effect) Houses: 3rd and 6th
  • Benefic Planets : Moon, Venus,  Jupiter and Mercury
  • Malefic Planets: Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu & Ketu

Malefic planets placed in the above Houses excel in their nature and so destroy evil.Benefic planets are compromised and rendered ineffective in those houses.

ASPECTS:

  • Mars (Mangal) : 1st, 4th, 7th,, 8th  Aspect from it are adversely affected
  • Jupiter (Guru) : 1st, 5th 7th, 9th from it are beneficial aspects.
  • Saturn (Shani) : 1st, 3rrd, 7th, 10th from it are challenging

Transit of Saturn from Moon in the Horoscope (Kundali) gives rise to a Challenging period in one’s life.

  • 4th and 8th aspect of Saturn from Moon –Dhaiyya Period of torment for two and a half years.
  • 12th, 1st and 2nd Aspect of Saturn from Moon : Sade-Sati Period of torment for  Seven and a Half years.

This is where one needs an expert Astrologer to relate these periods to various planets performing their separate activities in their uniquely placed positions.

Significance of the Moon and Moon sign( Chandra and Chandra Rashi )

Each of the nine planets presides over a set of three nakshatras situated on the zodiac at a trine from each other. The commencing dasha or mahadasha at the time of birth will be that of the lord of the nakshatra in which the Moon is placed, which particular nakshatra is known as the “Janma nakshatra.

Each Nakshatra ( star constellation ) is further divided into four quarters or padas.

The following is the table of the Planets and the Nakshatras that they rule.

Vedic Astrology is more accurate than other routes

In conclusion,I have found that vedic Astrology is more accurate than other routes like tarrot readings, palmistry, numerology, face reading, feng shui or vast shastra because it is after a detailed study of various combinations, calculations and permutations that a solution to a problem of When, Where and How is achieved.

Different MahaDasha influence different aspects in our life ruled by that planet. What effects a particular planet will exert in one’s life are entirely dependent on that planets position in the horoscope along with an overall reading. Still, the aspects that will get affected are the ones governed by the planet. Whether the effects will be for good or bad is based on an individual’s horoscope and the person’s Free will.

Thus, the concept of the time zones of one’s life leads to a closer study of ups downs & trends in a person’s life. The effects of the planets are always there. The final outcome is ultimately in hands of the subject himself. One may have to fight against the times that are not so good, and cash in the times that are good to make the life complete and enriched. Understanding the Map of life is the half the battle won towards the goal of living the life of our desires.
